Make your life easy using Canva

Canva helps you design anything from posts, templates, advertisements, and slides to so much more. If you haven’t created an account be sure sure to start your Canva here. As a designer or a creative I know you probably have already dug into Canva, but if the program is new to you it can feel completely foreign to navigate. But this simple hack will help you master Canva. I remember the struggle I had when I first started with Canva, if I had the knowledge of this one step it would have been so much easier.

When I first attempted designing in Canva I watched countless YouTube videos. It felt super discouraging how hard the program felt. I’ve learned the only way to understand it is by exploring. Honestly, once you dive into Canva the possibilities are genuinely endless. But getting to a place where it feels comfortable takes lots of practice.

Things you must know about Canva

Here are some tips and tricks that you can use in Canva. It will help you save time and allow you to just be in creation mode. You’ll want to create a customized brand package before the start of any project. This step takes only a few minutes to set up, but completely changes the game. Essentially it brings the entire brand to one localized place of reference that is super easy to access.

With a brand kit you can choose the exact colors and fonts (even down to the sizes) for any project. Simply find the branding kits nestled under tools on the left hand column near the bottom. Title your brand, and then select everything you need for any projects you will be working on. I personally like to research the brands colors and grab the hex code #s. This way I can ensure the colors will be matching the branding perfectly. The more precise you determine your brand package the simpler your design process will be. Essentially taking the extra time to set up your brand will save time on the creation side.

When inside Canva you’ll simply select text and then select the drop down to find your brand kit. The branding kit options will always be there, and you can toggle between different ones you’ve created. Every time you need to type something or need to adjust the color scheme your selection will be right at your finger tips. As soon as I learned this hack it leveled up my business and made branding seamless. I can now batch content and adjust all of the colors to match within a few minutes. It also makes it very easy to ensure I always get the branding just right.

I want to challenge you to try these tips and tricks in Canva. It will only take the few minutes at the beginning of your next project to create a custom branding kit. Once you’ve created your custom brand kit you will be able to go back to it over and over and over again.

I hope this hack is helpful, and I look forward to sharing more of these tips with you along this incredible journey.
